Masters Day 2 Recap

Weather was a little better today with sunny skies and a healthy breeze blowing around the grounds at Augusta. As I said yesterday, the rabbit was caught and the field is as bunched up as possible with every player within 10 shots of the lead. We are in for a crazy weekend.

Charley Hoffman was reeled in, shot 75, and sits at 4-under which is still in the lead with Sergio Garcia who fired 69, Rickie Fowler, and Thomas Pieters.

Rickie Fowler is in it! He shot the low round of the day with a strong 67. I really hope he can hang on tomorrow and put up a solid score around par and give himself a great chance on Sunday. He is my pick to don the green jacket.

Many many favorites missed the cut as reigning champ Danny Willett missed it on the number which is made worse by the fact that he straight shanked a ball on #1 on his way to an 8. Yikes. Zach Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed….see ya later. All missed the cut.

Jason Day made the cut on the number at 6-over.

Jon Rahm is tied for 6th at 1-under. Only three back and one of only 9 players under par with the windy and tough conditions.

Freddie Couples is ALWAYS around it seems. At 57 years young, he is in his customary position, in contention at Augusta with his silky swing and incredible course knowledge. He sits at 1-under with Rahm, Justin Rose, and Ryan Moore.

Jordan Spieth is back in the mix with a nice 5 birdie, 2 bogey 69. He is even par.

William McGirt is still right there at the top at 2-under after an early morning 73. Can he sustain and stay near the leaders. He has the longest wait to tee off from Friday to Saturday. Lot of time to think about the magnitude of what is ahead. I think he will fade because of this.

Phil Mickelson is still even. Only four back. Of course he is.

Rory McIlroy is 1-over. Only five back. Of course he is.
